KiwiBuild is a Government initiative to help stimulate the supply of quality, affordable homes for New Zealanders who have been locked out of the housing market.
To achieve the objective of putting home ownership within reach of more New Zealanders, there are specific criteria that must be met to be eligible to buy a KiwiBuild home. To be eligible, you must:
If you meet the eligibility criteria and are interested in a KiwiBuild home, you need to complete the pre-qualification process and provide documentation to verify your eligibility, including pre-approval of finance.
Once your eligibility has been verified, you’ll be able to enter ballots for KiwiBuild homes that you’d like to buy. If you’re successful in a ballot, you’ll be able to complete the purchse of your new home in the usual way.
Once you have pre-qualified, you need to enter ballots for specific KiwiBuild homes you’re interested in purchasing. Separate ballots are run for each KiwiBuild home and you can enter as many ballots as you wish. Success in the ballot is determined through a software-generated random selection process, giving everyone in the ballot for each property an equal opportunity. If you’re successful, you’ll be notified immediately and given the first opportunity to proceed to buy the home.
